UK sale dates for Christmas 2026: when to buy and when to wait

Christmas shopping is mostly about timing. Buy too early and you might miss a drop; leave it too late and you pay whatever the shop asks. Here’s the 2026 calendar, and how to use it.

The key dates

  • Early November: “early Black Friday” offers start appearing. Good time to make your list and start tracking prices.
  • Friday 27 November: Black Friday.
  • Monday 30 November: Cyber Monday. Often similar deals to Black Friday, sometimes extended online.
  • Mid December: last order dates for Christmas delivery. These vary by shop and delivery option, and Royal Mail publishes its recommended last posting dates each year, so check before you leave anything late.
  • Friday 25 December: Christmas Day.
  • Saturday 26 December: Boxing Day sales begin, with many online sales starting on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
  • January: the January sales, often the best time for things that aren’t presents.

What to buy when

Presents: track early, buy on the drop

For gifts, the deadline is the delivery cut-off, not the sale date. Add everything on your list to a price tracker in November. If it drops on Black Friday, great. If it drops in early December, also great. Just make sure you buy in time for delivery.

Things for yourself: there’s usually no rush

Big purchases you’re not giving as gifts (a new TV, a sofa, winter clothes) can often wait until Boxing Day or January, when shops clear stock.
